Barb is available
for two- or three-day residencies. (Longer residencies
can be discussed.) Each residency includes an
assembly program, workshops for students and/or
teachers, and a Fun-filled Family Night Show (Or
Laugh-Out-Loud Literacy Night) that includes the
students from the workshops. Workshops can be
with one or more grade levels or for a selected
group, such as Drama or Music Gifted and Talented
students.
Choice of Storyteller-in-Residence
workshops:
1. Fractured Fairy Tales
- students take a traditional folk or fairy tale
and twist the settings or characters just a bit
to create a new, fun, and unique tale.
2. Sign-a-Story - students
learn some basic signs from American Sign Language
(ASL) then incorporate these signs into the telling
of a traditional folk or fairy tale.
3. Weird Opera - students
take a traditional folk or fairy tale, then create
their own songs (written to familiar tunes) to
produce an unusual and funny musical presentation.
